Vacancy Description
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is ambitious about its commitment to inclusion, so that the borough works for everyone. A key element for all young people is their access to education and the success they achieve. We are seeking a dynamic and creative leader to drive our collaborative approach to inclusive education with young people, their families, schools and other partners such as health providers and commissioners.
We are looking for an Associate Director to join our Senior Management Team, taking a leading role in our highly valued service. Working directly to the Director of Children’s Services, you will develop the multi-year plan and operation to meet the council’s priority for an inclusive education system which provides the environment for all young people thrive, and especially those living with financial disadvantage or additional needs.
The successful candidate will be able to inspire all stakeholders to work together to meet the emerging needs of young people through the creative use of all resources available for children and education, especially those directed by the local Schools Forum.
As a leader in a small local authority team, the successful candidate will also need to be able to work collaboratively with the expert officers within the service in areas including school place planning, transport, support services, mainstream education development, good governance and the establishment of Education, Health and Care plans.
To be the Associate Director for Inclusive Education, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following skills and experience:
- Have knowledge of legislative and practice frameworks at play across education from 0-19 including the range of Ofsted inspection frameworks.
- Have knowledge of the motivation, best practice and the SEND Code of Practice following the introduction of the Family’s Act in 2014.
- Have experience of creating and maintaining successful relationships with a range of stakeholders in the public sector which have resulted in sustainable transformation within a complex system.
- Have a high level of determination, personal drive, energy and ambition to achieve challenging targets and improve outcomes.
