Full time, 37 hours per week • Permanent 

We are seeking two enthusiastic individuals to undertake full time, qualified Lead Accountant roles in our Finance Team at RBWM. The roles will report to the Senior Accountancy Lead and be responsible for supporting services across the council. 

The roles act as a link between the strategic and operational finance staff, ensuring ad-hoc requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently. They ensure the budget monitoring, budget setting, closure of service accounts and completion of statutory returns are as streamlined as possible. The post holders will work closely with senior staff and budget managers across the council to provide comprehensive accountancy support and accurate and reliable financial management advice. 

In addition to providing support to services you will be responsible for a small team of staff. The role is also central to improving existing processes within the team, overseeing the preparation of statutory returns and providing high quality information to support the Council’s decision-making. 

You will have excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical skills and the ability to balance attention to detail whilst being able to look at the wider picture. You will have significant management experience being able to support and develop your team members to be the best they can be. 

You will ideally have experience of working in Finance in a Local Authority setting so be familiar with the annual financial cycle and issues affecting local government.
