This is a great opportunity to join an improving Housing Service working to deliver high quality, innovative, people-focused and value for money services. The service covers housing options, homelessness, housing policy and housing enabling.
The roles cover housing options and homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation management, working with the private rented sector, housing policy work and enabling new affordable housing.
It is an exciting time to join with the Council progressing a major regeneration and development with circa 4,000 homes being built on its own land (at least 30% affordable).

About the role
Housing Options Officers
The successful post holder will be required to meet on a face-to-face basis with customers approaching the housing service for assistance / advice on a range of housing issues / difficulties. The officer will obtain full details of the customer’s housing situation, discuss their housing issues and understand their needs, provide advice and offer solutions as well as making assessing homelessness applications within the relevant legislation.
The role will follow the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to ensure that proactive homelessness prevention and relief work are key to the effective provision of the service. Additionally, the post holder set up and maintain accurate case file records for every case that they are assigned, ensuring that the internal IT system is used to store a complete electronic customer case file of a high standard that can be utilised in a court process should it be necessary.
The successful applicant will have a sound working knowledge of the HRA 2017, Housing Act 1996 Part VII and Localism Act 2011 in addition to a comprehensive understanding and awareness of housing issues, and government homelessness policy. The post holder will also deliver the ‘Out of Hours’ homelessness service on a rota basis with colleagues.
