Vacancy Description

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Apprentice to join its well-regarded Strategy and Commissioning Team. If you are a highly-motivated individual who would like to develop a career in Policy, Strategy or Commissioning within a local authority context, then this could be the ideal position for you.

Your primary role will be to support the Commissioning Team in the delivery of high quality information, intelligence and advice on all matters concerning monitoring, planning, commissioning and service development of Adults, Children’s and Health services as well as supporting in the planning and development of commissioning strategies for the Directorate to inform future commissioning and procurement across Adults and Children’s services.

In order to fulfil this role effectively, you will need to have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn new practices. You will need the ability to assimilate complex information and procedures quickly, work effectively as part of a team and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As part of the role, the successful candidate will be required to undertake formal studying in order to complete an Apprenticeship qualification. The role of a Commissioning Apprentice within the Royal Borough is expected to provide the candidate with sufficient breadth and depth of experience in order to undertake an Apprenticeship qualification as a Policy Officer at Level 4. The Royal Borough works with an educational provider who is currently offering a Policy Officer apprenticeship at Level 4. The next intake is likely to be September 2019.

The expectation is that completion of the Level 4 Apprenticeship would normally take 24 months from enrolment, so accordingly the apprenticeship will be offered on a fixed-term basis, running until September 2021.
