This a newly created role and an exciting opportunity to come and work for the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in a challenging and busy Residential Services team. We are on a journey to transform the Residential Services team, having an opportunity to recruit talented and ambitious people to create a high performing team ensuring that resident’s health, safety, and welfare is safeguarded and protected.
We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated people to provide advice and assistance to members of the public, stakeholders, and local businesses, investigating customer’s requests, queries, and complaints. You will enforce all relevant housing, environmental health, and associated legislation. The role will be varied, covering an interesting workload and all aspects of private sector housing, public health. You will be responsible for focus on the implementation and extension of the HMO licensing regime, caravan site inspection and licensing and the resolution of Unauthorised Encampments proactive and reactive HMO inspections. You will be investigating customer requests and complaints, assessing dwellings and the application of the housing health and safety rating system (HHSRS). You will be encouraged and supported to take enforcement activity to achieve compliance with the current legislation.
You will provide technical guidance, management support and expertise to the wider team, with direct line management responsibility for a technical officer, providing one-to-one support and mentoring. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to fulfil this senior position. Strong interpersonal skills and high level of organisational skills will be required to manage a diverse workload. Confidence to take decisions within agreed parameters will be essential. If you are able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, be able to organise and prioritise your own workload, have good IT skills, your strengths are guiding and leading and motivating team members and are keen to make a difference, we would like to hear from you. You will possess a degree in an environmental health, housing or building discipline (or an equivalent qualification) and have proven experience of environmental health and housing work. EHORB registration is desirable but not essential.
