Vacancy Description
We are looking to recruit a self-motivated individual to join our IT Services department at the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.
This role is responsible for administration, development, maintenance of the council’s network infrastructure. The infrastructure spans numerous locations across the borough including data centres, council offices, libraries, community centres and CCTV sites.
This role will undertake ongoing research and development of the council’s IT and communication infrastructure to ensure long term sustainability of services which are fundamental to the delivery of business activities used by council staff, residents, businesses and partner agencies.
We are seeking an excellent problem-solver with a thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture. You will be passionate about security and data protection. This role is responsible for all aspects of network management between sites and reports into the Infrastructure Security Manager.
The ideal candidate will have technical qualifications or proven experience with hardware and software, working within an IT department. Evidence of a very strong technical competence with significant experience of working in a technical infrastructure role, including:
- Enterprise-level LANs, WANs, PWANs.
- Wi-Fi.
- Firewall/IPS/IDS.
- Routers/Switches.
- Remote Access / VPN.
- CCTV.
- VoIP using SIP.
Expertise across a range of technologies should be evident, with the candidate able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in the area of networks and telephony.
This role requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
