Vacancy Description

This is a new and unique role created to build on our already successful partnerships and strong working relationships in all areas of Local Government Pension Fund activity including investments, administration and finance.

We are looking for an experienced person with a good track record of managing a Local Government Pension Fund who can be the Administering Authority’s key responsible officer for delivering all aspects of the Fund’s business. The role will be assigned through the Authority’s scheme of delegation and Constitution with the role’s accountabilities ultimately fulling the recommendations set out in the “Good Governance in the LGPS” report commissioned by the Scheme Advisory Board in 2019.

The Royal County of Berkshire Pension Fund (the Fund) has assets in excess of £2bn serving circa 250 scheme employers and around 80,000 scheme members across all membership statuses. The Fund is a client of the Local Pension Partnership (Investments) Limited (LPPI) who have managed the Fund’s assets in line with an Advisory Management Agreement since 1 June 2018.

This is not solely an investment role but we are looking for someone who can be a leading voice on investment matters and who can draw upon knowledge and skill to lead discussions with Pension Committees and Independent Advisors on investment strategy and asset allocation whilst managing the ongoing transition of assets to LPPI, having oversight of LPPI’s performance and reporting back to senior management at the Administering Authority.

Your success in this role will draw on your considerable pension fund investment management experience across a broad range of asset classes, high level investment analysis and reporting skills, staff leadership, and knowledge and navigation of the Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations to ensure that the Administering Authority fulfils all of its statutory duties both from an investment perspective and that of pension scheme administration.

You will be the Fund’s lead on all actuarial and audit matters, attend and lead on all key meetings for the Fund and represent the Fund at conferences and seminars as required.
