Please note this is a shared emergency planning service based in West Berkshire.
An exciting opportunity to be part of the Joint Emergency Planning Unit which covers Bracknell Forest, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead and West Berkshire Council areas. The team deals with a wide range of challenges by way of risks including REPPIR, COMAH, MACR sites, a number of military locations, rural and urban environments, a number of significant rivers including the River Thames and large scale events including race courses, Berkshire Show and State events. The work is varied, demanding but very rewarding and we have team of people who are enthusiastic to share their knowledge, learn from others and build on their experiences.
As a team we are only 2 years old so it is an ideal time for applicants to get involved and develop the work we do to ensure the Councils are robust in their approach and resilient to respond to any emergency.
The Emergency Planning Officers (EPO) work across all Council areas as a generalist EPO but with some specialist areas of work with opportunities to develop areas of interest. This is a fixed term post for 2 years (funding limited project).
Applicants should have a Degree level qualification or similar and/or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience and have a positive approach to doing things differently and working in an often fast moving and changing situations.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
